What is a Nurse Practitioner?
Nurse Practitioners are independent health professionals with advanced education (usually 8 years of University education ). Nurse Practitioners have the competence to provide comprehensive health assessment, to diagnose and to treat acute and chronic illness. Nurse Practitioners can order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, prescribe medications and refer to Specialists.

Medical Consultation Services
Diagnose and treat common health conditions
Diagnose and treat minor injuries
Order and interpret laboratory tests
Prescribe drugs
Make referrals to specialists
Can act as a primary care provider
Prescription Refill Services
A Nurse Practitioner provides another alternative to having a prescription refilled.
What can Nurse Practitioner prescribe?
Nurse Practitioners may prescribe all drugs on the prescription drug list.
Specialist Referral Services
A Nurse Practitioner will consult with you and determine whether a Specialist referral is necessary. If it is determined that seeing a Specialist is required the NP will facilitate this referral.
